Aims and methods
Aims:
- to discover and highlight different causes of violence, their structures and patterns in the lives of South African and German youth
- to empower participants to reflect on personal experiences with violence
- to enable participants to work on own patterns of violent behavior and reactions
- to encounter different options of active non-violence based on new approaches to biblical ethical guidelines
Methodology
- Interactive Teaching & Multimedia Approach
- Exhibition "Canaan is everywhere" (Informal Settlement, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal)
- 3-D Simulation "Canaan - violence and the plight of refugees"
- Role play
- Video clips, i.e. "A day in the life in Canaan", "Soweto", "Violence in a German subway"

- 140 facilitators have been trained between 1997 – 2011 working within a network of regional clusters in churches and schools
- Leadership training and continuing education workshops are offered on a regular basis
